The Gospel of Matthew: Jesus Is the Fulfillment of the Old Testament
Learning Goals
Learning Goals
The Gospel of Matthew invites its readers to consider how God’s promises to three key Old Testament figures—Abraham, Moses, and David—are fulfilled by Jesus.
God promised Abraham that his descendants would bless the entire world, which is fulfilled in Christ’s blessing of salvation upon the world.
While Moses led the people on an exodus from slavery in Egypt to freedom in the Promised Land, Jesus led all of God’s people on a new exodus from slavery to death and sin to freedom in the Kingdom of God.
Jesus is the promised Messiah and heir to the throne of David.
