Activity 2: "Kinship" Reflection 

Make a new sub page titled "Kinship" under "Reflection." Pick two of the following prompts on the webpage. Answer each question using two or more paragraphs (Remember a paragraph is 5 or more sentences). Write out the questions you are responding to so Mr. Q may know when he grades your responses. Be sure to reference parts of the book and use quotes (unless it is a personal reflection). 

• Fr. Boyle suggests that with kinship as the goal, other things (justice, peace, etc.) fall into place. Do you agree? Support your opinion with examples.

• Fr. Greg says that a “wrong idea” has taken hold on our world...an attitude that suggests “there just might be lives out there that matter less than other lives.” Find 4 examples (2 from the book, 2 from your own lives) where you’ve noticed this attitude to be true.

• Give 4 examples (2 from the book, 2 from your own lives) where Fr. Greg proves the above notion (“there just might be lives out there that matter less than other lives.”) wrong.

• Fr. Greg says, “People call you the ____________ long enough, you tend to believe them.” Have you ever experienced self-doubt or negative feelings about yourself because of something other people say about you? What makes you feel better? Conversely, have you ever felt really great about something because of the things people have said? What’s Fr. Greg’s point?

• Pick one of the parables. Explain how one of the people in the parables demonstrated one or more of the Catholic Social Teachings (CSTs).
